"Sister Circle"

Oil on Canvas 4' x 6'

The painting below is called “Sister Circle.” Painted from February 2021 to May 2021, this piece celebrates female friendships and the power that females have in communal solidarity. The greatest, most supportive friendships that I have had in my life have been with female peers and some of their faces were my references in this painting.

Another facet of inspiration for the art is my love for Taylor Swift's folklore and evermore albums. Somewhat jokingly, but at the same time with a pure sense of sincerity, I named the ladies in this painting Rebecca, August, Este, Betty, Marjorie, and Dorothea (with Jaymes and Inez in the background and Taylor Swift in the left forefront). These characters feature in Taylor Swift's albums and I loved depicting them in a visual way.
