Welcome to my Library and Information Studies Capstone and
Women's and Gender Studies Portfolio!
This website serves as a reflection of the knowledge and experience I have gained during my time pursuing a Masters of Library and Information Science Degree and Masters of Arts in Women's and Gender Studies at UNCG. My academic profile and the materials throughout synthesize the concepts and issues pertinent to both academic fields, showing how the concepts that I have learned in my education are fluid across both disciplines. My CV/resume and professional development plan, along with my academic and work experience, are available on the pages of this site.

A cornerstone of my education within the LIS Department has revolved around the concept that librarians can contribute to the lives of people in multiple, unlimited ways. Essentially, librarians are more than just information gate keepers; we're makers, innovators, and implementers of programming that aids the marginalized and the hurt. By becoming the type of librarian that is sensitive to the nuanced needs of patrons and the social contexts they occupy, one becomes an advocate for libraries, communicating their overarching importance to a diverse range of people.

Outcomes
"Librarians are more than just gate-keepers of information. It is our ethical duty to be creators, makers, and implementers of library programming that help the marginalized and the hurt.
To those with privilege and resources, to those in desperate need,
ALL people are considered valuable by librarians, deserving of being
reached by the services we provide ."--My library mission
