This project not only led me to assess the ethics involved in research, it also required me to think about the ethics of access and how many materials for young survivors of sexual abuse need to be accessible and not censored.

LIS 691 | Bibliotherapy Project: Writing Bibliotherapy for the Abused Body
-
As an extension of my Action Research Project, this independent study course allowed me to merge my academic, personal, and research interests into a project that pertained to the fields of library studies, women's and gender studies, psychology, literature, eating disorders, and sexual abuse recovery. As a librarian, I can help individuals with pathologized narratives, mental health issues, and traumatic pasts. Librarians are more than gate-keepers of information. It is our ethical duty to be creators, makers, and implementers of library programming that help the marginalized and the hurt.

LIS 656 | "Finding Peace in the Library: Academic Libraries as Safe Spaces"
-
This paper discusses how academic libraries should aspire to be sites on campus where students can express themselves without fear of danger. It covers the ethical and moral obligation that librarians have—particularly academic librarians—in making the library institution a place of safety.

LIS 656 | "Feminism in Academic Library History"
-
This discusses how the Women's Movement, especially second-wave feminism, shaped the way academic libraries function in educational institutions. Tracing this lineage informed my understanding of how to incorporate feminist ethics into librarianship.

LIS 656 | "Understanding the Information Needs of Sexual Assault Survivors"
-
My review of an article explains the ISSAS Model: a model by Julia Skinner and Melissa Gross that leads librarians to assess the ways in which survivors utilize information. This assignment encouraged my understanding of how to implement this type of moral observance into my own work as a librarian.

CED 688 | Social Justice Advocacy Action Plan
-
With my friend and classmate Anna Dupont, we compiled an Advocacy Plan to promote inclusivity of LGBTQIA+ individuals in faith spaces. Our plan details the steps involved in making a queer affirming space of faith. While this project exists outside of the library field, the template for the action plan can be implemented for ALL library spaces.
