Each week, I responded to the assigned class readings. This file opens a compilation of my engagement with archival literature.
Final Exam demonstrating my knowledge of archival principles, paradigms, and literature
During a visit to Duke's Rubenstein Library, I was able to interview two archivists at the Sallie Bingham Center and speak with them about the intersections of gender issues and archival work. Archival ethics are definitely shaped by the archivist's intention to center women's lives into the historical record.
By writing a grant application for a hypothetical project, I was able to gain experience with grant writing and the syntax refining process that accompanies this writing skill.
While on one of my trips to Duke's Rubenstein Library, I was able to look through the papers of Chapel Hill politician Lightning Brown. After assessing the finding aid for the collection, I was able to hypothetically re-process the collection and indicate my new arrangement and description processes with a new finding aid.
I offer my reflections on re-processing the Lightning Brown Papers.
